Can a cracked headtube be rewelded? For that matter, can aluminum be rewelded?
The answer to that question will soon be revealed. Yesterday I responded to a posting on craigslist for frame repairs. Today, I dropped my cracked Casati off with Bruce (welder) over in Arlington, VA. I'm heading off to the Florida Keys this evening for a week of R&R....when I return, I hope to find my beloved bicycle ready to be built back up. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about rewelding aluminum; the debate is a heated one. But, for $50 I figured it was worth finding out for myself. I'll let you know.

I predict it will be just fine. I’ve seen a few aluminum BMX frames w/ split head tubes (probably from less than optimal head set/head tube sizing) get welded and continue on racing and jumping w/out issue.
